Indian Batters with Most Runs in ODI: India will be hosting the next ICC ODI World Cup in 2023 and as the host of this ICC mega event, the men in blue side have already qualified automatically for this tournament.

The Blues have played decently in the fifty overs matches in the year 2022 and they have lost fifty overs format series against South Africa, New Zealand and Bangladesh.

India is ranked in the first position in the ICC World Cup Super League points table. Till now the men in blue have played 21 one-day international matches and won 13 of them.

The Blues have lost 6 ODI games and two matches have ended with no result. In 2022, India played eight series in ODIs, i.e. 21 matches. They won 14 of those and lost eight fifty overs matches this year.

India had started the year with a loss in ODIs. That match was played in South Africa. But they will end 2022 with a mammoth win against Bangladesh, which was their last fifty-overs game this year.

With the 2022 year ending in a few days, we shall take a look at the three highest run-getters for India in the ODI format in 2022.

1. Shreyas Iyer

The middle-order batter of the men in blue side has been going great in the fifty-overs format. He has been a pillar in the ODI side, especially when the senior pros like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not around. Shreyas Iyer has scored the most runs in the fifty overs this year.

In 17 matches and 15 innings in the fifty-over format, Shreyas Iyer has scored 724 runs with an average of 55.69. He had also amassed six half-centuries and one century.

His best knock was an unbeaten innings of 113 runs. Shreyas is a certain member of the Indian team in the middle order during the fifty-overs world cup next year.

2. Shikhar Dhawan

The opener, Shikhar Dhawan is in the second spot in this segment of the highest run-getters in the fifty overs format in 2022. Gabbar had also captained the team when Rohit Sharma wasn’t around.

He did a decent job as the skipper of this team. His first series loss came against New Zealand. Rohit and Gabbar will be the obvious choice to pen the innings in the 2023 WC.

In this year 2022, Shikhar has scored 688 runs in 22 matches and that many innings. He also played more games than the above-mentioned Shreyas Iyer.

But still, Shikhar has got the second-highest runs in the ODI format this year. That is not a good sign for his future in ODIs. He scored those runs with an average of 34.40 and smashed six fifties and no centuries.

3. Shubman Gill

There has been a lot of competition for the openers slot in Indian cricket and that is why senior players like Shikhar Dhawan should perform consistently to hold their place in the team.

Shubman Gill is the rising star of Indian cricket and he is doing well in ODIs and Test matches. Gill can be the front-runner to partner Rohit Sharma in the fifty overs format.

He needs to perform consistently in the given opportunities. This year, Gill has played 12 matches and 12 innings of the one-day international format.

He has scored 638 runs with an average of 70.88. Shubman has also smashed one-century and four half-centuries.

We can see a lot from this wonder boy in the coming year of 2023 as India will play ODIs and Test matches.
