Encounter in Baramulla: On Thursday i.e. May 04, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Police reported that incriminating materials, arms and ammunition, including an AK 47 rifle and one pistol, were recovered from the encounter site.
This marks the second encounter in Jammu and Kashmir within the past 24 hours.
The police have identified the two terrorists killed in the encounter as Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh from the Shopian district.
According to police sources, both were local residents and members of the banned terrorist organization LeT.
They had reportedly joined terrorism in March 2023. Further investigation into the matter is being carried out by the police.
As per PTI report, a police official stated that security forces conducted a cordon and search operation in the Wanigam Payeen Kreeri area of Baramulla district in response to a specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists on Thursday morning.
According to the official, the search operation transformed into a gunfight when the militants opened fire on the security forces' search party, prompting them to respond with retaliatory fire.
On Wednesday also two terrorists were killed in an infiltration attempt that was foiled by the Jammu and Kashmir police and army near the Pichnad Machil sector.
A few weeks ago, an army convoy was attacked by terrorists in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the martyrdom of 5 soldiers.
The terrorist organization People's Anti Fascist Front (PAFF) claimed responsibility for the attack, according to sources.
