
Army Chopper Crashed in Kishtwar: A technical fault caused an Army chopper to crash near Machhna village in Marwah Tehsil, Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday i.e. May 04.
The incident, which occurred while three people were onboard, resulted in injuries to two pilots and a technician, according to officials who spoke with PTI.
As per the Army's statement, the pilots onboard the chopper have sustained injuries in the crash, but are out of danger. A court of inquiry has been initiated.
Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter on an operational mission conducted a precautionary landing on the banks of the Marusudar River at approximately 11:15 AM in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir, as per the statement issued by the Northern Command based in Udhampur on May 4, 2023.
The pilots had reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and decided to conduct a precautionary landing.
However, the helicopter apparently made a hard landing due to the undulating ground, undergrowth, and unprepared landing area.
The Army rescue teams were immediately deployed to the site for rescue operations.
The Army stated that the injured individuals have been evacuated to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for medical treatment.
After the Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter made a hard landing on the banks of the Marusudar River in Kishtwar, locals in the area rushed to the site and assisted in rescuing the injured pilots and a technician.
The wreckage of the helicopter was found on the riverbank, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Khalil Ahmad Poswal.
In March of the same year, an Indian Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter crashed in the Mandala Hills area of Arunachal Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of two pilots.
