COVID-19 Update: According to the Union Health Ministry's latest data updated at 8 AM on Thursday, India reported 5,335 new cases of coronavirus infection, marking an increase of nearly 20% compared to the previous day.
The surge in cases has raised concerns about a potential rapid resurgence of COVID-19 in the country.
The Health Ministry's data revealed that the active Covid-19 caseload has increased to 25,587.
The daily positivity rate currently stands at 3.32%, while the weekly positivity rate is recorded at 2.89%.
The data indicated that the recovery rate in India currently stands at 98.75%, with 0.06% of active cases remaining.
The country also witnessed 2,826 Covid-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,41,82,538.
As per the Health Ministry's website, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has administered a total of 220.66 crore vaccine doses, comprising 95.21 crore second doses and 22.87 crore precaution doses.
In the last 24 hours, the country administered nearly 1,993 doses, as per the latest data.
The website also stated that 92.23 crore Covid-19 detection tests have been conducted to date, with approximately 1,60,742 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest data updated at 8 am, on Wednesday, India's total Covid-19 tally climbed to 4.47 crore (4,47,33,719) with the addition of fresh cases.
The death toll also increased to 5,30,916, with 15 new deaths recorded. Maharashtra reported four deaths, while one death each was recorded in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Puducherry, and Rajasthan.
Additionally, Kerala reconciled four deaths on Wednesday.
Over the past few days, there has been an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in India.
