Illegal mining is being done in Bharatpur and Brij area for the last several years. The dispute was about Aadi Badri and Kankanchal hills. Aadi Badri and Kankanchal hills are considered as the Leela place of Lord Shri Krishna.

For about 551 days, the saints were agitating against this mining. Mining did not stop even after assurances from CM Gehlot and Congress General Secretary.

In the end Baba Vijay Das decided to sacrifice his life to stop mining and set himself on fire on 20th July. In the self-immolation, 85% of Baba's body was burnt.

Soon Baba was admitted to RBM Hospital in Bharatpur. After that he was referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur, but when the situation became critical, he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Where on the morning of July 23, the soul of Baba Vijaya Das left his body.

However, the government had announced to declare the disputed area as a protected forest area on the day of self-immolation.

Illegal mining is going on for the last several years. This was also opposed in the Vasundhara government. From 11 January 2021, this movement was going on continuously in Pasopa Dham of Bharatpur.

The saints were constantly struggling to save their mythological heritage. But the louse was not crawling on the ears of the administration.

It is not that the CM was not aware of this matter. Chief Minister Gehlot and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had met these saints and discussed their problems regarding illegal mining and the status of these mythological, religious heritage.

But both times the saints got only assurance, not action. Since Independence had already disclosed in news about this mining and the elimination of Shri Krishna's Leela sites.

The state government called a meeting on the day of Baba's attempt to immolate himself and declared the disputed land a protected forest area in 15 day

But all this happened after the self-immolation of Baba Vijay Das. Now the question is bound to arise on the government whether the Gehlot government of the state was waiting for such a step? Why did the government not take necessary steps even after the agitation went on for about 551 days? Who is ultimately responsible for the death of Baba Vijay Das, who sacrificed his life for Lord Krishna's Leela places? Along with all these questions, the general public of the state is also asking a big question to the government. Will the common man have to take similar steps every time to draw the attention of the government to the problems?
Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod has held the Congress government responsible for Baba's death and slammed the government. Rajendra Rathod has tweeted and described Baba's death as a stigma on the forehead of the government.

Gehlot government has always been silent on this issue

The Gehlot government of the state has remained silent on this issue for the last several years. Not only the sadhus, the general public and the Congress MLAs themselves have warned the government against illegal mining. But the government remains a mute spectator every time.

This silence of the government points towards the truth of the claims made in the letter of Sangod MLA Bharat Singh. MLA Bharat Singh had written a letter to the state government on July 22, saying that the state's mining minister is the biggest mining mafia in the state.
