The mega IPL Final was played at Shri Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad yesterday. GT and RR had played three matches till yesterday, and Hardik’s team has won all of them against Samson and company. RR reached its first final after 2008.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. But it was hard to understand why Samson took this decision.

They should have known that Gujarat Titans have struggled whenever they have been asked to bat first in the T20 matches.

RR could have done better if they had bowled first, like in the game against RCB on Friday.

Still, Jos Buttler tried his best to accumulate more runs under his belt in his final outing of the TATA IPL 2022 season. The orange cap holder looked in good touch again and gave a decent start to the RR innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been in good form.

Buttler and Jaiswal put on 31 runs in just 3.6 overs. Jaiswal was the first to be dismissed, and he wasted a good start again.

Jaiswal was out for 22 by Yash Dayal. Sanju Samson came into bat after the fall of Jaiswal. The RR skipper and Jos Buttler tried to hold the innings perfectly.

TATA IPL 2022 Final Highlights: GT Bowlers strike in the middle overs –

Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler were going well in tandem, and they were also scoring those runs quickly. They had also shared a mini partnership that the GT bowlers broke, and they clawed their way back into the match. Rashid Khan and Hardik Pandya bowled well to trigger a collapse.

The GT skipper dismissed the RR captain for just 14 runs, and that's when the wickets started to tumble for the Royals.

Rashid Khan also joined the party and dismissed Devdutt Paddikal in the next over to dent the RR innings even more. Suddenly the Royals looked lost in this match, and GT was miles ahead of them.

Hardik Pandya, the bowler, bowled a terrific spell, and he picked up the dangerous Jos Buttler for 39 runs. Buttler was the top scorer for the Rajasthan Royals.

The RR team didn’t even manage to score 100 runs after 15 overs because of a clinical performance from the GT bowlers.

Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, and Ravichandran Ashwin couldn't do much after the top order failed to contribute in this big final.

The batting of RR had cut a sorry figure in this big final, and the GT Bowlers never allowed them to rise. RR batted for the quota of 20 overs, and they had scored just 130 runs.

TATA IPL 2022 Final Highlights: Hardik led the way with the ball for GT

We all know that Hardik Pandya is a great bowler. But due to the injuries and niggles the pace-bowling all-rounder hasn’t bowled that much.

But this performance from the finals should lift him, and he aims to bowl more and that too, all three formats. That's the only way for him to make a comeback to India's Test side.

In the big final, the Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya took three wickets and bowled his full quota of four overs.

Hardik also picked an important scalp of Jos Buttler, who was in super form. Rashid Khan, the spin magician, also did a wonderful job keeping the pressure on the RR batters.

Mohammed Shami went wicketless in this match. But Sai Kishore was another trump card for the GT team. He also did well to cement his place in this franchise team for years to come.

The young spin bowler Kishore picked up two wickets in this final match of the TATA IPL 2022 season.

The target of 131 is considered the modest total. Shubman Gill was given a life by Yuzvendra Chahal early in the innings. Yuzi dropped Gill off Boult’s bowling, and RR had to pay for that.

Wriddhiman Saha and Matthew Wade continued their poor form in the finals, and that too when they chased a modest score of 131 runs.

Prasidh Krishna took an early wicket to scare the GT camp. Saha was out for just five runs. A few overs later, Wade, too, fell after playing a few stunning shots. Trent Boult dismissed the Aussie wicketkeeper batter for just eight runs.

Hardik and Gill steadied the ship and brought GT close to a title win

Hardik Pandya played this final as a pure all-rounder, leading the team from the front. He came in a critical situation when the RR bowlers were slight at the top of the GT team.

But Hardik Pandya had held on to the number four batting position and played well to bring the target close to their arch. Gill was patient in this chase and made full use of his two drop chances.

Gill and Hardik shared a partnership of 63 runs, and they looked steady in this run chase of 131 runs. But it was Chahal, and this time he broke this stand and got the much-needed breakthrough for the Rajasthan Royals team.

Yuzvendra picked up the GT skipper, Hardik Pandya, and bagged the purple cap of the TATA IPL 2022 season. Chahal had picked 27 wickets to his name in this edition of the IPL.

The orange and purple cap holders were from the Rajasthan Royals team. Still, they didn't manage to win this year's title.

David Miller gave some finishing touches to the GT innings

After the wicket of Hardik Pandya, it was David Miller who played the role of a finisher to perfection yet again. Miller has been the best finisher with Dinesh Karthik in this season of the IPL.

Miller had guided GT to many memorable wins, and in the finals, also he played a crucial knock for the Titans. Miller and Gill helped Gujarat Titans to cross the line and win their maiden title.

Gill was unbeaten on 45 runs, and Miller was not out on 32 runs. For the Rajasthan Royals, it was a heartbreak. Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, and Prasidh Krishna picked up one wicket each to their names.

Gujrat Titans won the final by seven wickets to be the TATA IPL 2022 season champions. Hardik Panda was the player of the match.
