Telecom equipment maker Ericsson on Monday announced a long-term strategic 5G contract with Reliance Jio to launch a 5G standalone (SA) network in the country. This has been done at a time when 5G has been officially launched in the country and companies are rapidly expanding their 5G network.
In a press release issued by the company, it was told that this contract has been signed between Jio and Ericsson to build a radio access network in the country.
Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani said that we are very happy with the partnership with Ericsson to build the 5G network. We are confident that this will lead to the digitization of the country and will act as a foundation for achieving the vision of 'Digital India'.
Along with this, the press release said that Jio's standalone 5G network will be a "technology leap", as it will help users to experience the real 5G network.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 5G network in the country on 1 October 2022. After this, Reliance Jio launched its 5G services in four cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi, and Airtel in Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Bangalore, Gurugram, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
