US witnesses violence on Independence Day parade, Six dead 36 wounded

The USA July 4 witnessed violence on the occasion of its 246th Independence Day. Unknown people during the Independence Day Parade at Chicago opened fire and created a ruckus in the environment. Police while speaking to the incident told it caught a suspect Robert E. Crimo III, in the same row.

The unfortunate shooting occurred nearly after 10 am as people started to gather for the Independence Day parade along Central Avenue, said CNN. Police commander Chris O'Neill while talking about the issue said that the firearm evidence was located on the rooftop of a building near the site where the shooting happened..

The incident obviously created a situation of scape. Toddlers were had to leave their tricycles, and parents on the other side ran for the safety with their children and thus leaving a feeling of terror in the hearts of countrymen.

Victims shifted to Highland Park hospital

The incident wounded more than 36 people, mostly by gunshots, said Jim Anthony, a spokesperson for the NorthShore University HealthSystem. Brigham Temple an emergency doctor told that the victims were shifted to the Highland Park hospital.

The New York Times identified one of the dead as 76-year-old Nicolas Toledo, a specially-abled person attending the parade in his wheelchair. As reported by the Times, the deceased was not willing to attend the parade but attended the parade as his family did not want to miss the event.


"We thought it was a part of the parade. We all were shocked” said her granddaughter Xochil Toledo over the incident.

It must be noteworthy here that the shooting comes with gun violence fresh on the minds of many Americans after a massacre occurred in the US on May 24. That unfortunate event saw the killing of 19 innocent school children and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Earlier to this, New York City witnessed a similar attack on May 14 attack that killed 10 people at a grocery store in Buffalo.
