Mumbai: Two teenage girls, who had reportedly gone missing after appearing for their standard X, Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, at two different centres on Friday, were traced to Delhi on Sunday. D N Nagar police had alerted all railway stations, across India, to look out for the girls. After receiving a tip-off about them on Sunday, they sent a team and handed over the girls safely to their parents.

According to the police, the two minors were last seen on Friday afternoon, around 2.15pm at Andheri railway station. Following this information, police checked the CCTV camera footage of all railway stations, which revealed the minor duo got off at Bandra railway station. From there, the girls were suspected to have taken a long distance train up north, said police.

On Sunday, police got a tip-off about the girls being spotted in Delhi and alerted the Delhi Police to rescue the girls. Subsequently, a police team was sent to Delhi to rescue the teenagers, said Parmeshwar Ganame, a senior police inspector of DN Nagar police station.  "The girls were traced to Delhi and were brought back home on Monday. The girls had decided to take a long distance trip without informing their parents, which left the families worried.

Since the girls were scared after being escorted by police, we are yet to record their statement," said Ganame. The two teenagers had disappeared after their SSC examinations on Friday. Police said, after attending their exams at their respective centres in Juhu and Andheri, the duo met in the afternoon to go on a 'vacation'.

When one of the girls did not return home, hours after her exams were over, her family members got apprehensive and her father approached the police with a complaint stating that his daughter went missing after the examination, at the DN Nagar police station on Friday night. The police had registered a case of kidnapping under section 365 of the Indian Penal Code.
