South America: 13 Dead, 14000 Hectares of Area Gutted in Chile Wildfires

Chile Wildfires: The country of South America, Chile is burning in flames. There has been a fierce fire in the forests of Chile in which at least 13 people have been reported dead.

According to the CBC report, Chilean officials said that 14,000 hectares of land has been damaged due to the forest fire in Chile due to the heat wave in the country.

Eleven people, including a firefighter, have died in the Santa Juana town of Biobio, about 310 miles (500 km) south of the Chilean capital Santiago.

The Minister of Agriculture also reported that an emergency-aid helicopter had crashed in the southern region of La Araucania, killing the pilot and a mechanic.

Most of the fires have occurred in the Biobio forests, located about 560 kilometres (348 miles) south of the capital city of Santiago, Al Jazeera reported.

A state of emergency has been declared in the farming and forestry areas of Biobio and the neighbouring region of Newble, CBC News reports.

So there the deployment of troops and additional resources have been increased.

Chile Wildfires: Fleet of 63 aircraft is trying to extinguish the fire

Interior Minister Carolina Toha said hundreds of homes have been damaged by wildfires, while there were 39 fires across the country.

Toha has also said reporters that the conditions here are going to get riskier in the coming days.

A fleet of 63 aircraft with the help of Brazil and Argentina is trying to extinguish the fire.
