Mukesh Singh, one of the four convicts, has now moved the Delhi High Court, in order to avoid hanging in the Nirbhaya case on 20 March. Mukesh, through his lawyer, has filed a petition in the High Court claiming that he was not present during the incident on the night of December 16, 2012.

Mukesh had filed an application through lawyer ML Sharma, claiming that the prosecution had falsely implicated some documentary evidence by specifying it. To this, the court said, "It seems reasonable to me that the conduct of counsel for the convict should be brought to the notice of the Bar Council of India for proper monitoring practice."

Mukesh claimed that on 16 December 2012, she was not in the national capital. He was arrested with displeasure. He was brought to Delhi on 17 December 2012, a day after the incident. The Public Prosecutor told the court that this application is only an attempt to influence the death warrant.

Mukesh's mother, convicted in the Nirbhaya case, filed an application in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) seeking a stay on the execution, which has been rejected. Rejecting the application, it was said that Mukesh has used all his measures at the judicial level. Hence, it can no longer be interfered with.
