MQ-9 Reaper Drones Targeted by Iranian Military Commander

A drone operated by the US military attacked Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of Friday at the behest of President Trump and killed Iran's top security and intelligence commander, General Qasim Suleimani. The MQ-9 Reaper drone of America played the most important role in this attack.

According to an American media report, the MQ-9 Reaper is an armed, multi-mission, medium-altitude long-haul drone with the ability to fly. It can fly at a distance of 1,150 miles and an altitude of 50,000 feet. It is an aircraft primarily designed for distant attacks for the US Air Force in aggressive attacks.

According to a fact in a US media report. "Given its critical timing, high-performance, wide-range sensors, multi-mode communication suits and precision weapons with high-performance, cooperating and accurate attacks against sensitive targets in a short time gives this drone a unique capability."

The MQ-9 Reaper drone was inducted into the US Air Force in 2007. Its wings are 66 feet long. It can strike at a ferocious speed of around 230 mph. It is operated remotely by pilots and sensor operators and according to its fact sheet it costs $ 64.2 million per unit, which includes four aircraft.

As of September 2015, the US Air Force had 93 MQ-9 reaper drones. This drone is larger and more robust than its older MQ-1 Predator drone and is capable of destroying targets with AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and other dangerous weapons.
