Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Raping Minor in Kota

A court in Rajasthan sentenced life imprisonment to a man for raping a 14-year-old girl two years ago in Kota. Also, the court imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on him. The Poxo court of Kota, in a judgment pronounced on Tuesday, also sentenced the partner of the guilty to three years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.

Special Public Prosecutor Lalit Kumar Sharma said that Judge Jagendra Kumar Aggarwal termed the crime as extremely brutal and convicted Kanhaiya Lal under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Poxo) Act and Section 363 and Section 366 of the Indian Penal Code. The convict's age is around 21-22 years. He said that Lal's partner Satyanarayana was also found guilty under sections 363 and 366.

According to the complaint lodged by the girl's mother, on the night of November 23, 2017, when the girl went out of the house, Lal had kidnapped her with fear of a knife. Took him to a secluded place and raped her. He told that later Satyanarayana came to Lal and they took the minor to another place and Lal raped her again. The two later left the victim near her house.
