Man Arrested for Robbing, Killing Farmer in Alipur

Delhi Police on Tuesday has

arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly robbing a 65-year-old farmer and bludgeoning him to death in outer Delhi's Alipur.

The accused has been identified as Naveen, a resident of Tajpur village.

According to Gaurav Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of outer North District, the matter came to light on April 7 when the son of deceased Ravinder Singh found him in a cattle shed in a critical condition and informed about it to police.

"Singh suffered serious head injuries and blood-stained farm equipment was found lying beside him. He said that Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela where he was declared dead, "the DCP said

"Initial investigation revealed that Singh slept in cattle shed alone and last night at around 9 pm on April 6. A case of murder was registered and investigations were done. DCP said that eight teams were formed to check CCTV footage and criminal records of the whole village, drug addicts, family members of the deceased, and call details of suspects.

"In one of the CCTV footage, Naveen was seen, after which he was caught and questioned during which he confessed about his involvement. The cash used by the accused to recover Rs 26,072, the blood of the deceased, the cloth stained bronze and the string used for throating were also recovered.
