The World Health Organization (WHO) has said a promising thing amid the rapidly spreading cases of the new and highly contagious variant of the coronavirus, Omicron. The WHO director has said with full confidence that if all the worldwide countries rise above narrow nationalism and share their vaccine with each other, then in the year 2022 itself, the infection of the global pandemic Covid-19 can end. However, WHO chief also said that narrow nationalism and vaccine hoarders can prove to be a barrier.

Statement issued by WHO Director Dr. Tedros Adhanom

In a statement, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that vaccination rates are still very low in countries such as Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chad, and Haiti. So far, less than 1% of people in these nations have received the corona vaccination, which provides immunity from the disease. In developed countries, on the other hand, more than 70% of adults have completed the vaccination protection cycle. We won't be able to completely eradicate Corona unless we erase this inequity.

WHO chief also said that till we do not defeat Corona pandemic completely, we cannot even imagine the normalcy of life. The director of WHO said that the Omicron variant of Coronavirus is spreading rapidly around the world. COVAX, the Global Vaccine Facility, World Health Organization (WHO) and its affiliates are engaged in conducting corona testing of the needy people, delivering the vaccine to them. These organizations are also involved in providing treatment facilities to the needy.

According to the WHO, the vaccination has saved the lives of millions of people so far. The faster the vaccination of the people, the slower the corona will become. Dr. Tedrus Adhanom stated that currently there are corona prevention kits available, as well as new drugs for the treatment of sick people. Dr. Adhanom further stressed the importance of a booster dose.

According to the data from the UK Health Secretary's Agency (UKHSA) shows that the booster dose reduces hospitalization. Of the 815 cases of mutant strain admitted in the hospital, 608 people had not received a booster dose. Statistics show that if a booster dose is given, the risk of hospitalization will be reduced by 88 percent.
