In Indian cyberspace, a computer malware using the name of the Income Tax Department has been detected these days. It works by sending fake e-mail to taxpayers in the name of Income Tax Department to steal their information. Now the government cyber security agency has issued advisory to the taxpayers about this. The cyber security agency in the advisory has said that many taxpayers are getting fake e-mail in the name of Income Tax Department these days, which is malware and steals people's information.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) said in a fresh advisory, "The phishing and malware campaign has been active since around 12 September. It is targeting financial organizations and taxpayers. In this campaign fake emails are being sent. , Which sound like an e-mail sent by the Income Tax Department. "

Actually, people take tasks like filling ITR and claim refund very seriously. This is why hackers are using the name of the Income Tax Department for malware. A senior income tax official said that people need to be vigilant about the income tax and fake e-mails related to the bank. He informed that the Income Tax Department runs campaigns from time to time to keep people aware of such matters.

There are two types of fake e-mails mentioned in this advisory. The first e-mail has an .img or .pif file attached. At the same time, people are asked to download the .pif file in another type of e-mail. It is called to go to the incometaxindia.info domain. The advisory states that this domain has now been discontinued. Also, it has been warned that neither click nor open any file in such suspicious emails.
