Gujarat: 40 Employees Scorched in Fire at Chemical Factory in Bharuch

Fierce fire incident has been occurred in chemical factory in Bharuch, Gujarat. The explosion in the boiler at the Chemical Factory in Dahej, Bharuch has scorched about 40 workers, the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon. The work of rescue and relief is in progress but the fire has not been controlled yet. According to the local administration, the injured have been admitted for treatment, whereas Bharuch collector MD Modia said that about 35 to 40 workers were engulfed in flames after an explosion in the boiler of an agro-chemical company on Wednesday afternoon. All the injured have been taken to hospitals in Bharuch and efforts are on to control the fire. He further told that the fire has spread in the whole factory and as a precaution, two villages near the chemical plant have been evacuated.

In the last month, a case of gas leakage came to light at a pharmacy company in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, about 12 people died and hundreds were seriously injured in this accident. The styrene gas leak occurred due to the negligence of the LG Polymers Company and it was disclosed by the Monitoring Committee in its report filed before the National Green Tribunal. The Monitoring Committee said in its report that a gas leak occurred due to the negligence and lack of training of the LG Polymers Company, in which 12 people died, whereas 22 animals also died in this accident.The Monitoring Committee said in its report that the LG Polymers company had not followed the basic safety standards at the styrene gas plant. Also, more than 800 tons of styrene gas was extracted from the plant.
