Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized on effective policing in the country so that women can feel safe and secure. In the recent past, this first statement of the Prime Minister has come amidst the outrage arising in the country about some major criminal incidents against women.

At the 54th conference of Directors General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Pune, Prime Minister Modi said that officers should keep making efforts to enhance the image of the police at all times, so as to increase trust among all sections of society, including women and children. .

According to the statement released from the Prime Minister's Office, PM Modi believed that technology can be very helpful in ensuring active policing, through which it will get feedback from the common people.

There has been a debate in various forums in the country over the delay in punishing the culprits in hate crimes, including the infamous Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case of 2012. Perhaps this was the reason that when the accused of killing and burning the dead body after the rape of a doctor in Hyderabad was killed in a police encounter, he was appreciated by most people. However, questions are also being raised over the encounter. Chief Justice of the country SA Bobde himself said at an event in Rajasthan two days ago that if he is judged with revenge, he loses his original character.
