Bulandshahr Violence Accused Yogesh Raj Arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police

The main accused in the Bulandshahr violence Yogesh Raj, a Bajrang Dal leader, has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police. 37 people have been arrested so far in the case. Violence had broken out in Bulandshahr in December resulting in the death of a police officer Subodh Kumar. Violence reportedly broke out when a mob attacked the police alleging inaction over complaints of cow slaughter.

Raj was arrested from Khurja in Bulandshahr. The development comes a month after the incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr. While reports have been filed against 60 individuals, the police were on the lookout for Raj, who was on the run for about a month. A civilian, one Sumit Kumar also lost his life during the violence that broke out on December 3.

On Monday, the Uttar Pradesh police arrested Kalua, who allegedly attacked inspector Subodh Kumar with an axe. The police had zeroed down upon him after scrutinizing the videos that went viral in the aftermath of the violence. The police also reportedly recovered an axe from him.
