Another Hindu Temple Vandalised in Canada with Anti-India Graffiti

This is the sixth instance of graffiti vandalism to a temple since July of last year. From 2019 and 2021, there was a 72% rise in hate crimes targeting religion, sexual orientation, and race in Canada.

Another hate crime occurred when a Hindu temple, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, in the town of Windsor, Ontario, was vandalised with anti-India graffiti on the outer wall of the temple structure.

Officers were sent to a Hindu temple in the 1700 block of Northway Avenue on April 5, 2023, following a report of hate-motivated vandalism.

CCTV Footage Shows Suspects Defacing Hindu Temple

The Windsor Police Department has made public the CCTV footage that depicts two individuals defacing the walls of a Hindu temple with spray paint.

The authorities have classified this act as a "hate-motivated incident" and are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.

If we talk about suspects, the one suspect was dressed in a black sweater, black slacks with a little white emblem on the left leg, and black and white high-top running shoes at the time of the event.

The police said that the other suspect was dressed in black trousers, a pullover, black shoes and white socks.

Anti-Indian graffiti on the walls of our temple shocked us,” a BAPS official told the media channel.

According to the organisation, the event was reported to the local police for prompt appropriate action.

A BAPS representative, in an email to members of the Hindu Federation in Canada, disclosed that they have reported the incident to the local police and urged them to take prompt and appropriate action.

The email also contained images that displayed slogans targeting India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The miscreants spray-painted "Hindustan Murdabad" and "Declare Modi terrorist (BBC)" on the outer wall of the Hindu temple.

According to the sources, slogans against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were scribbled in black on the building's wall.
