WTC Points Table: India on Top Spot after Winning Lord’s Test

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the latest World Test Championship standings. Team India took the top spot in the points table of the new cycle of WTC. The team had been on top spot for a long time in the cycle of the last World Test Championship. However, the team lost the final match of the WTC.

The Indian team tops the list with one win and one draw.  At number two is Pakistan's team, which won one match, followed by the West Indies team at number three spot. Meanwhile, the England team is at the fourth position, which is playing the Test series against India. England has not won a single match in this new cycle of WTC so far.

Team India tops the list with 14 points:

Indian team currently has 14 points. If the slow over rate penalty was not imposed, then Team India would have had 16 points, because both teams get 4 points each for a draw match. The ICC charged Team India for slow-over rate, due to which the teams had to bear the brunt. Both Pakistan and West Indies shares 12 points  each. At the same time, the England team has only two points, as two points have been deducted due to slow over rate.

Let us tell you that in the matches being played under the World Test Championship, points have been fixed on winning the match this time. The last time the points system was prepared according to the series, which later had to be changed to the win percentage due to the coronavirus epidemic. This time's WTC round, 12 points will be rewarded for winning the match, 6-6 points in case of tie, 4-4 points for draw. The team that loses the match will not get a single point.
