Union Minister Narayan Rane Detained over Derogatory Remark against Uddhav Thackeray

Union minister Narayan Rane has been detained over his rerogatory remarks against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. On the other hand, Rane has moved to the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the FIRs against him. He also sought an interim order granting him protection from arrest or any coercive action.

Earlier, Shiv Sena and BJP workers clashed on the streets in Mumbai. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena workers demonstrated against him in 17 cities of Maharashtra on Tuesday. The stones were pelted at the BJP office in Nashik, the police lathi-charged the Shiv Sainiks protesting outside Rane's house in Mumbai. Meanwhile, former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said, "I would like to tell the police that they should behave as per the law. I am not threatening, but cops should keep in mind where the ones who behaved in such a way are. Attack on BJP offices will not be tolerated. We don't believe in violence but we won't get bogged down by such attacks and keep silent."

What did Narayan Rane said?

An FIR has been registered against the Minister in Pune, Raigad and Nashik. Along with this, a demand has been made to register an FIR in Aurangabad and Kherwadi. Pune and Nashik police have also issued warrants for Rane's arrest. Rane, involved in BJP's Jan Aashirwad Yatra, has been here since Monday.

Union minister Narayan Rane during interaction with media, claimed Mr Thackeray forgot the year of independence during his August 15 address, saying "It is shameful that the Chief Minister does not know the year of independence. He leaned back to ask about the count of years of independence during his speech. Had I been there, I would have given him a tight slap."
