Only few months before the Tokyo Olympics two Indian athletes, Shooter Ravi Kumar and Boxer Sumit Sangwan have been found positive in the dope test. Ravi, 29, has won bronze medals at the Shooting World and Commonwealth Games. He has been suspended following the results of the investigation. He is no longer part of the Indian contingent.

Indian boxer Sumit Sangwan (91 kg) has been found positive in the dope test. He will no longer play in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned him. The National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) gave this information on Tuesday. Acetazolamide has been found in Sumit's test, which is banned. The 26-year-old Sangwan has won the silver medal in the 2017 Asian Championship.

Nada said in a Notice, "On October 10, 2019, a NADA Doping Control Officer (DCO) collected a Urine Sample from Sumit. The sample was sent to WADA's laboratory located in Doha, Qatar. His test report has been found positive. Assisted by the DCO, the Sample was split into two separate bottles, which were given reference numbers A 6366879 (the A Sample) and B 6366879 (the B Sample)".  Analysis of the 'A' Sample returned an Adverse Analytical finding for Acetazolamide, Diuretics and masking agents." Acetazolamide is listed as Diuretics and masking agents under S5 of WADA's 2019 Prohibited List.
