Amid tussle with the Indian government, Microblogging site Twitter website is displaying a wrong map of India, showing Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as a separate country. The map appears on the "Tweep Life" section of Twitter. The distorted map was flagged by a Twitter user, which has generated many angry reactions.

Let us tell you that this is not the first time, when Twitter has shown a different map of India. Earlier in November 2020, the microblogging website showed Leh as part of Jammu and Kashmir instead of the Union Territory of Ladakh. Then, the Central Government had issued a legal notice to Twitter for disrespecting India's territorial integrity.

Centre's new IT rules:

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had earlier raised questions about the intention of Twitter. The minister said that Twitter adopts double standards. Earlier, Twitter had banned Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's account for an hour. In the last few weeks, there has been tussle between Twitter and the Indian government over the new IT Rules. The government has slammed Twitter for deliberate defiance and failure to comply with the country's new IT rules. The new rules on May 25 mandate social media companies to establish a grievance redressal mechanism for resolving complaints from the users or victims.
