Punjab shooter Angad Veer Singh Bajwa, who won the title with a world record at the Shia Championship, unofficially topped the world record score in the men's skeet final of the 63rd National Shooting Shotgun Championship on Friday. He equaled the record by aiming for 60 points in the final. In fact, the record is officially named after him, legendary skeet shooter Vincent Hancock and two others. He left behind his senior and fellow shooter Meraj Ahmed Khan, who scored 58 points. Meraj missed two shots and fell behind this young shooter.

During the Asian Championship earlier this month in Qatar, there was an interesting match between the two in which Meraj won the quota place. Meraj had a wonderful day as well, scoring a superb 125 in the qualifying to ensure a place in the final. He also set a world record. Angad scored 123 points in qualifying.

However, both Angad and Meraj will have a national record. Sania Sheikh beat state partner Ariba Khan 10-8 in the shoot-off to win her third national title in the women's skeet event. Punjab's Abhay Singh Sheikhon and Parnaz Dhaliwal won the junior men's and women's skeet gold medals respectively.
