As far as 2+2 talks are concerned, it was India who started this tradition with special allies. Apart from Russia, India has 2+2 talks with only three countries. These are America, Japan, and Australia. In the talks between Modi and Putin, important agreements on defense and trade can also be reached. Apart from this, both the leaders can also talk about investment and science and technology. Last year 2+2 summit was not held. It was canceled due to Covid. This summit is held alternately in both countries.
