In West Bengal, the resolution against CAA has passed in the assembly on Monday.  CM Mamta Banerjee targeted the central government fiercely. In the assembly, Mamta Banerjee said that this protest is not only for the minorities. I thank my Hindu brothers for taking this protest forward. We will not allow CAA, NPR and NRC in Bengal. We will fight in peace.

Protests are taking place across the country to protest against the citizenship amendment. Significantly, in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress chief and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been opposing this law since the beginning.

On January 22, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee opened a front against the central government in the hills area of Kolkata and Siliguri. In this sequence, Mahajulus was also taken out in Darjeeling city under the leadership of the Chief Minister. The procession went from Rarbatsan Road to Gandhi Road, DB Giri Road, NH 55 to Darjeeling Motor Stand and was later converted into a meeting. Seeing the Mahajulus, it seemed as if people from all over the mountain had come to join it.

Addressing the public meeting Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee had said that we are all Hindustani but BJP is trying to divide the country in the name of this law. Is there any respect for the people living in the hills, whenever the election time comes, the voters of the hills are bought by paying money.
