PM Narendra Modi Unlikely to Inaugurate Khelo India Games 2020

The opening of the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games will be held on 10 January in Assam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unlikely to attend this inauguration ceremony. This was confirmed by BJP's state unit spokesman Roopam Goswami on Wednesday. He said that we had sent an invitation to PMO to invite PM Modi, but there is no confirmation on this.

In Khelo India Youth Games, 6800 players from 37 states and union territories will participate in 20 sports. Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be present at the inauguration ceremony at Indira Gandhi Stadium on Friday. Many star players will be present on this occasion including Hima Das.

Sonowal said in the release, 'This competition has led to the revolution of sports in India and we are proud that this time these games are being organized in Assam. I wish the players all the best. ' According to sources, there are frequent protests in Assam against the government's citizenship law. Subsequently, some student organizations have warned PM Modi and Amit Shah visiting any part of Northeast India.
