PM Modi to Be Included as Chief Guest in EEF

PM Modi will join the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) as the chief guest on Thursday, the last day of the two-day round of Russia. India is not part of this forum to be held in Vladivostok, but PM Modi will take part in it on the special invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. They will also address this forum.

Earlier, he met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo AB, Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohammed and Mongolia President Khaltamagin Battulaga. He will also be conferred with Russia's highest civilian honor 'Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle' today. The honor was announced in April this year.

PM Modi expressed grief over the explosion in the fireworks factory in Batala city of Punjab. He said that the accident here is heart wrenching. My condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives in this painful accident. I hope the injured recover as soon as possible.

PM Modi met the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohammed, and the President of Mongolia, Khaltmaagiin Battulga. During the meeting with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohammed, he discussed ways to diversify India-Malaysia cooperation for the benefit of the people of both countries. Also raised the issue of extradition of disputed Islamic preacher Zakir Naik.
