India announced last month to convene a conference on Afghanistan. Russia, China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will participate in it. National Security Advisors of these four countries are going to attend this conference.

The special thing is that Pakistan had called a conference on Afghanistan in September and Iran in October. Pakistan did not even invite India to join. However, India did attend the conference held in Iran. India also participated in the Moscow Conference.

Question on India's role

India had earlier questioned the external interference in Afghanistan, saying that it threatens to increase the distance between Kabul and the world. Apart from this, the Taliban had also appealed to India for peace in the country and assistance on humanitarian grounds.
