Opposition in Duryodhana’s Role: CM Yogi

Shivani Alakh

The Opposition insulted Bapu by not attending a special session called to achieve the goal of sustainable development on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The opposition's attitude is similar to that of Duryodhana in the Mahabharata, which has a tendency to turn to unrighteousness rather than religion. This was stated by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday while initiating the discussion in the 36-hour-long special session of the Vidhan Sabha. In a nearly two-hour address, the Chief Minister counted the work done in this direction by the Central and State Governments while expressing commitment to the 16 targets of sustainable development set by the United Nations. Condemning the SP, BSP and Congress members who were absent from the session, he called the previous governments anti-development.

He said that the UNO had set targets in 2015 but since 2014, the Modi government at the Center has been working seriously on most of them. In the state too, since the formation of BJP government in 2017, the targets are being met.

Th e Chief Minister was hurt by the opposition who was absent. He said that not coming to the opposition for discussion is an insult to the poor and farmers and contempt of the House. The opposition did not like the churn on development. Those doing politics of dynasty and casteism are afraid of ending the vote bank. Whereas in the Lok Sabha elections this year, the people have told that now the castes are not just for votes. All is with development, because of this the opposition is stung. The public will teach a lesson to those who turn away from the truth.

The Chief Minister talked about achievements of two and a half years while discussing healthy life goals for all. He said the figures for encephalitis are shocking. In 2016, there were 641 deaths due to encephalitis, whereas in the year 2019, there were only 35 deaths. He also credited this to the Swachh Bharat Mission. He said that the previous governments did not think this way. Toilets were provided to about 27.5 million families in the state. Two crore sixty one lakh toilets were built in our government after SP government.
