NADA Launches Mobile App for Athletes to Provide Information about Banned Substances

Akash Singh

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday launched the first mobile app of India's National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). The purpose of creating this app is to give players information about the game and most importantly banned substances so that they can avoid doing anything wrong. Many times it happens that the young players are not aware of the banned substances and they use it, but NADA does not consider it right.

The first step is to provide information to the players: Kiren Rijiju

During the launch of Nada's app, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "I thank Nada for this initiative. This is a very important step for Indian sports because we are working for clean sports and the first step in the initiative is to make people aware and provide information to the players so that they know which medication or substances are not to be used."

BCCI banned Prithvi Shaw:

The Sports Minister said that this app will help players who are inadvertently trapped in doping. Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal and NADA Director-General Naveen Aggarwal were also present at the event. Let us tell you that many such players have been found in the Indian cricket and sports community who have inadvertently consumed drugs that are banned. In 2018, Prithvi Shaw, the young batsman of the Indian team, was similarly banned.

Actually, Indian team opener Prithvi Shaw took cough syrup that contained some banned substances. This was the reason that he had violated the rules of doping and was banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). After this, he did not play cricket for about a year.

What is NADA?

The National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) is the national organization responsible for promoting, coordinating and monitoring the doping control program in sports in all its forms in the country.
