Kashmir Update – Tension Still Strikes Here!!

Ayushi Sharma

Tension persists on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5. The Government of India had decided to remove most of the provisions of Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 itself.

The army says that there has been a ceasefire violation about 30 times during the last five weeks. The firing took place in Majkut, Sundarbani, and Balakot sectors of Rajouri and Poonch for the last two-three days. Due to this, many people were forced to flee from there too. Some children were also caught in school in the shootout. Army officials sent some troops and extricated them from the school.

However, there has been less fire in Jammu region in Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control. There is more tension in the border areas of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu.

If we talk about Kashmir valley then it is difficult to say whether the arrest has decreased or not. Actually, there is confusion about the pattern of arrest. For example, one or two stones are being thrown in a locality after which a campaign starts. Some youth are called to the police station and taken into custody there.

The administration calls it counseling instead of arrest. People who are apprehensive that they will take part in a demonstration are called and kept for two days, four days or ten days. A strange situation arises from this action. Now their parents get very nervous. Because it often happens that they are not even allowed to meet.

How is the condition of the valley?

A similar case also happened in Shopian district on Saturday. youth have been raised here, but the administration says that they are being counseled by talking to their parents or elders of their neighborhood.

These people staged a demonstration outside the deputy commissioner's office and demanded that their children be released.

There is silence in Kashmir valley. If silence is called peace then it is here. But the way normal life should have come back on track, it is not. There is still a strike. Business activities are not going on.

Students are still not going to school. Once again, efforts have started that the number of students in schools should increase from Monday. But we have seen in the last five-six weeks that all efforts have failed so far. Only teachers come to schools. Children are still missing from schools. Internet and mobile phones continue to be banned. If all these signs are for normalcy and peace, then there is no peace.

But if there is no peace or no stone is killed then the situation is fine here!!
