Jammu and Kashmir Encounter between Terrorists and Security Forces

An encounter has started between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. A joint team of security forces in carrying out this operation. Two terrorists are reported to have been killed. However, both have not been identified yet. At present, the operation is going on.

Triggering an Encounter

Sources said that on receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in the Sokbaba forest area of ​​Bandipora, a joint team of Bandipora Police, Army's 13 and 14 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) and CRPF launched a search operation. Seeing the cordon getting tough, the terrorists started firing.

After this, the soldiers took the lead. Along with this, the terrorists were also given a chance to surrender, but the terrorists kept firing bullets. As a result, two terrorists were gunned down by the security forces. An official further said that as the security forces were moving towards the suspected spot this morning, the hiding militants opened fire on them, triggering an encounter.

The house-to-house search

Earlier on Friday, two terrorists, including a Lashkar commander, were killed by security forces in an overnight encounter in Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. Two AK 56 rifles, four magazines, 136 cartridges, and two bags were recovered from them. Both the terrorists were local.

On Thursday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police received information about the presence of terrorists in Warpora, Sopore late on Thursday night. Based on this, a joint team of Sopore Police, SOG, and Army's 22 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation. During the house-to-house search, the terrorists hiding in a house started firing on the security forces.

A police officer said

A police officer said that the security forces gave the terrorists a chance to surrender several times, but the terrorists did not agree and opened fire on the soldiers. In retaliation, two terrorists including the Lashkar commander were killed. The slain terrorists have been identified as Fayaz Ahmed War alias Umar of Warpora and Shaheen Ahmed Mir alias Shaheen Maulvi of Cherpora Budgam.

Both the terrorists had carried out many incidents. Fayyaz was a Lashkar commander and has a long criminal record. He had joined terrorism in 2008. Although he surrendered along with the weapon, after his release, he started working with Hizbul and was once again arrested under the PSA. He joined Lashkar after its release in March 2020.
