ISSF World Cup Finals: Sanjeev Rajput Missed out on a Place in the Final

Emerging shooter from the Czech Republic, Philip Nepegechal and Sionaid McIntosh of Britain won gold medals in the men's and women's 50m three positions respectively on the first day. Rajput, who had already achieved Olympic quota, finished ninth with 1153 points. Poland shooter Tomasz Bratnik took the eighth and last qualifying spot with 1154 points. Sanjeev could have equaled Britannic if the last two targets were scored 10–10. Akhil Sheoran, the second Indian to qualify for this event of the last tournament of the year of International Shooting Sports Federation, finished 13th with 1147 points. In the women's three position event, Anjum Modgil also failed to make it to the top eight shooters who qualified for the finals. She finished 13th with 1147 points.

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has confirmed that Rajeshwari Kumar of Punjab set a national record in the women's trap event during the ongoing 63rd National Shotgun Shooting Championship here. Rajeshwari collected 118 out of 125 points in qualifying and then won a silver medal in the event. She made the series of 24, 23, 24, 24 and 23 among 69 shooters.

Rajeshwari's qualifying score is two points better than the previous record which was jointly held by veteran women trap shooters Seema Tomar, Shreyasi Singh and Manisha Keer. Rajeshwari expressed happiness over this achievement. She said that although I missed the gold medal, I am still proud to set a national record. At one time, my father also had a record in his name and I am glad that I was able to match his ideal.  Seema, Shreyasi and Manisha all scored 116 points in 2018. Seema and Shreyasi scored this during the National Championship in Indonesia while Manisha in Jaipur. Veteran shooter Shagun Chaudhary also made it to the finals with 117 points.
