The phase II of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin in UAE from September 19. Now, the teams have started reaching the venue. Ahead of the second phase, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by Virat Kohli has made several changes in the squad. Three star players were dropped from the team, while three new players were included in their place. Apart from this, Director of Cricket Mike Hesson will serve as the head coach of the team until the end of the IPL 2021 season as Simon Katich stepped down from his position.
During a press interaction, Hesson said, "Some significant changes in our playing squad, from an overseas perspective, due to player unavailability and, indeed, a reshaping of our overseas contingent. Finn Allen and Scott Kuggeleijn have been selected for New Zealand tours, and they won't be part of RCB. Kane Richardson has made himself unavailable, as has Daniel Sams, so the balance of our squad has changed dramatically. So we have obviously gone about making purchases during the replacement window, which opened up about four or five days ago. A lot of preparation has gone into that.
The list of dropped players includes Adam Zampa, Daniel Sams and Finn Allen. In place of Adam Zampa, Sri Lanka's spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been given a place in the team. He had performed brilliantly in the three-match T20 series against India. He was adjudged player of the series for taking 7 wickets in three matches.
On the other hand, Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has been included in the RCB team in place of Daniel Sams. Apart from this, Tim David has been given a chance in the team instead of Finn Allen. RCB gave information about these changes via tweet. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, RCB performed well in IPL phase I. The team stands at number 3 spot after winning 5 out of 7 matches till the league was postponed.
