Indian Boxer Amit Panghal Qualifies for Tokyo Olympics 2020

India's star boxer Amit Panghal has qualified for the Olympics to be held in Tokyo on the basis of a spectacular performance. He achieved this feat by defeating Philippines boxer Carlo Paalam in the quarterfinals of the Olympic qualifiers.

Amit Panghal, who created history by giving India a silver medal for the first time at the World Cup Boxing Championships has achieved this year's Tokyo Olympics quota in the 52 kg weight category. Amit managed to make it to the Olympics with a 4–1 win against Philippines boxer Carlo Paalam.

Amit looked in great form against the Philippines boxer on Monday. He scored 4 points against his opponent on the basis of excellent punch. He made it to the World Boxing Championships in September last year in the final of the 52 kg category. He became the first Indian boxer to do so. Although, Amit was defeated in the final against Olympic champion Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan, but he still achieved great success for India.
