Important Meeting of Joint Commission of India and Maldives Today

The Foreign Ministers of India and Maldives will hold talks in New Delhi on Friday to further strengthen their cooperation. This meeting of the Joint Commission of the two countries will take place after four years. Earlier, the Joint Commission of the two countries has met five times.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar said that there would be detailed talks between Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and his Maldivian counterpart Abdullah Shahid on cooperation in many areas.

Shahid arrived in India on Tuesday on a four-day visit. He is accompanied by a 31-member delegation, which has senior officers from several departments. On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Shahid held important talks with Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale on Bilateral relations.

"The warmth of the joint commission's dialogue and mutual relations between the two countries shows that the scope of cooperation between us is expanding," the spokesperson said. Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India's special friend and friend of the sea region, India is committed to the development of Maldives.

Recently, PM Modi inaugurated major development projects of both countries through video conferencing, promoting India-Maldives friendship. In the joint inauguration of major development projects covering a wide range of sectors, PM Modi said that my Government's Neighborhood First and Maldives Government's India First policies have strengthened our bilateral cooperation in all sectors.
