France Launches its First Nuclear Attack Submarine ‘Suffren’

The navy of France got submarine in the form of 'Suffren'. Franch President Amniel Macaroon launches 'Suffren', the first Nuclear Attack submarine of Barracuda class on Friday. Amanuel Macaroon unveiled the submarine at the port city of Cherbourg in France. Barracuda class has been introduced to replace four SSN Ruby submarines.

'Suffren' is the first in a series of six programs of Barakuda. The total cost is 9 billion euros. By the year 2025, three other similar submarines will be assigned to the country. Barracuda-Class is a nuclear attack submarine (SSN), designed by French shipbuilder Naval Group. It was previously known as DCNS and DCN.

On December 22, 2006, the French government ordered the order of six Barracuda submarines. Its construction started in 2007 and the first unit was started in 2019.
