Devidas, a three-time MLA from Sonipat assembly seat in Haryana adjacent to Delhi, died in Surat city of Gujarat on Tuesday. Devidas had been ill for a long time and had been on ventilator for the last nearly six months.

Significantly, Devidas first became an MLA from Sonepat in 1977 after the Emergency. After this, in 1982 and 1987, they also won from Sonepat.

Devidas was originally from Haryana, but his family shifted from Sonepat to Surat in connection with the business about five years ago.
