The ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal is set to make the National Civil Register (NRC) a major Political issue in Assam. The ruling Trinamool Congress will bring a resolution against the NRC in the Assembly on Friday, which is also supported by the opposition Congress and the Left Front of the state. Naturally the BJP is against it.

In the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee held in the Assembly on Wednesday, the ruling party and the opposition (Congress and the Left Front) agreed to bring a resolution against the NRC. It is said that during the passing of the resolution against the NRC, the Trinamool Chief and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be present in the House and participate in the debate. Sources said that on this day, a resolution will be passed in the Assembly for never implementing NRC in Bengal.

Earlier on Tuesday, the leader of the Left Front Legislative Party Sujan Chakraborty had demanded a discussion on it without bringing a resolution against the NRC in the Assembly. On this he also got the support of Congress and state government minister Shobhandev Chatterjee. Shobhan had said that the demand to implement NRC in this state will not be met on any condition. After this, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee was held in the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday in which the approval of the Left and the Congress was expressed with the ruling party for bringing the proposal.

Meanwhile, sources are quoting that Mamta may visit Assam on September 12 and participate in the protest program there. Mamta is trying to unite all opposition parties on this issue. Ms. Banerjee has been opposing NRC in Assam since the beginning.

On Saturday, Ms. Banerjee has been continuously expressing her strong reaction to the release of the final list of NRC in Assam through social networking sites. Mamta had said that more than one lakh people of Gorkha community have been excluded from NRC, which is surprising. Also excluded from the list are CRPF and other jawans and family members of former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. The government should ensure that the real Indians are not excluded from the list and they get justice.
