Assam Floods: UN Stands Ready to Support Indian Government, Says Stephane Dujarric

Over 70 lakh people have been affected due to Assam floods. On the other hand, the UN Secretary-General spokesman has said that the United Nations (UN) is ready to help India if needed. Let us tell you that due to the devastating floods in Assam, lakhs of people have been displaced and more than 80 people have lost their lives.

On Monday, the Secretary-General's spokesman Stephane Dujarric, said in a daily press briefing, "Our colleagues told us that about 4 million people have been displaced due to heavy flooding caused by floods in Assam, India. If needed, we are willing to help the Indian government. " He said that Nepal authorities have urged people living in riverbanks and low land areas in the Terai region to move to safer places due to the possibility of flooding.

Assam floods have affected 24 districts:

At the same time, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report, floods in Assam have affected 24 districts, causing damage to the crop area of ​​1,09,600.53 hectares. The rising water level has affected a total of 2,254 villages. Let us tell you that to help the flood-affected people in the state, the government has set up 276 relief camps and 192 relief distribution centers in the districts.
