After showing a rebellious attitude for a month, former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has formally announced to quit the Congress. Amarinder Singh has sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Amarinder Singh has already made it clear that he will contest the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections by forming his own party. Captain Amarinder Singh in his resignation letter sent to Sonia Gandhi accused Navjot Singh Sidhu of making him the president against his will. He said, "Against my will and in view of the advice of all the MPs, Navjot Singh Sidhu was made the president. Sidhu hugged Pakistan's Army Chief Bajwa and PM Imran Khan. He also revealed the name of his new party as 'Punjab Lok Congress'.

Sidhu had joined the Congress party in 2017

Let us tell you that Navjot Singh Sidhu had joined the Congress party just before the 2017 assembly elections. Since the formation of the government in Punjab, the relationship between Amarinder Singh and Sidhu became tense. Sidhu had recently intensified attacks on the Punjab government. In September Amarinder Singh had to step down as Punjab CM.

However, Amarinder Singh is not letting go of any chance to target Sidhu. Amarinder Singh has claimed that he will try his best to defeat Navjot Singh Sidhu in the assembly elections. Captain has also talked about seat-sharing with BJP by forming a separate party.

The decision to part ways with the party was taken after much thought and is final. I'm grateful to #SoniaGandhi Ji for her support, but will not stay in Congress now': @capt_amarinder".

He also went on to reiterate that he would launch his own party soon. "I will soon launch my own party and will hold talks for seat sharing with @BJP4India, breakaway Akali factions & others for #PunjabElections2022 once farmers' issue is resolved. I want to build a strong collective force in the interest of Punjab & its farmers': @capt_amarinder."
