YouTube Shorts, a short-video format segment of YouTube, is now available on PCs and tablets. Previously, only mobile phones could access the area, and consumers couldn't watch Shorts videos on PCs, tablets, or Smart TVs. Now that Google has announced support for computers and tablets, it appears that Smart TVs will still be unable to play Shorts clips for the time being.

The shift is scheduled to happen in the next weeks. This is excellent news for tablet and desktop users, as many people prefer to consume material on bigger displays rather than on their smartphones.

Youtube Shorts Implementation on Desktop and Tablets

It remains to be seen how the implementation will be organised into the YouTube interface for desktops and tablets, which is different from that on smartphones, where YouTube Shorts has its own section. It seems likely that desktop users too, will see a dedicated Shorts section soon, with all Shorts clips in one place.

Youtube Shorts New Feature Called 'Cut'

YouTube's Shorts platform will also get a new tool dubbed 'Cut.' Cut is similar to TikTok's 'Stitch' function in that it allows users to add pieces of other people's videos to their own. Users who do not want their footage to be mixed in with other people's videos can simply turn off the option.

Cut is scheduled to arrive first on Apple's iOS devices, with Android users receiving it later this year.
