Will Yamaha XSR155 Motorcycle with Retro Look to be Launched in India?

Nidhi Hakla

Yamaha surprised enthusiasts when it launched a retro-looking Yamaha XSR 155 in Thailand in August 2019.  Now there are similar discussions in India about this bike that can be launched soon.  Royal Enfield dominates the retro segment with smaller engine capacity.  However, now Jawa has also entered this segment.  However, what current motorcycle companies will also enter in this segment currently.  At the moment nothing can be said about this.

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha is looking to strengthen its presence in this segment.  XSR155 has been launched in the international market in this segment.  It has a single cylinder 150cc liquid-cooled engine, due to which you can run it everyday.  As such, the XSR155 is based on the current Yamaha R15 V3.0.  However, the brand can certainly compromise on some aspects and replace the aluminum swingarm with a box-section unit and an inverted front fork.

About the prices in Thailand, there is a difference of Rs 14,281 between R15 and Retro XR155 and it is more economical.  If it was launched in the Indian market also, then the same difference in prices can be seen.  The Yamaha XSR155 can be priced at Rs 1.32 lakh (ex-showroom).  With this price, the Yamaha MT-15 is priced at Rs 6,200 and is priced at Rs 1,39,948 (ex-showroom, Delhi), similar to the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 ES.
