WhatsApp Is Adding the Ability to Exit Groups Silently

Shivam Verma

WhatsApp has been observed offering the option for users to leave groups discreetly without informing other members. The new change in the instant messaging app would make it simpler for users to leave unpleasant and bothersome groups that they were previously hesitant to leave because other members would be aware of their departure.

This is especially true in family gatherings when you don't want your relatives to know about your departure due to random "Good Morning" greetings or communications that require simple fact-checking.

WhatsApp Group Members will be Unable to Notice Whether One of them has Left the Group

According to an image posted by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, the instant messaging app will notify users when they leave a group that only the user and group administrators would be told. This implies that group members will be unable to notice whether one of them has left the group.

When someone leaves a group, WhatsApp now displays an auto-generated notification. This notice is available to all group members as well as admins.

WhatsApp Introduced the Option to Quit a Group Discreetly a Few Days Ago

WhatsApp introduced the option to quit a group discreetly a few days ago when it detailed its Communities feature. However, the exact day when it will be available to customers has yet to be confirmed.

"We're also providing the ability to secretly leave a group," the app says on its FAQ website.

According to WABetaInfo, the screenshot used to reveal the new inclusion was obtained from a recent WhatsApp Desktop beta. However, the adjustment is expected to be available to WhatsApp users on both Android and iOS.
