LRO Failed to Find NASA’s Lunar Craft

Ayushi Sharma

NASA's Lunar Craft or LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter) has failed to find India's lander Vikram. With this, the buzz about this for the last two days has also come to an end. It was previously believed that the LRO would be able to do this work well, but it did not. ISRO also had high expectations from the LRO, but could not do as much work as the Orbiter of India, orbiting the moon, did. Let us tell you that on 7 September, the crash landing of Lander Vikram took place on the surface of the moon. But minutes before this happened, its contact with ISRO's mission control room was severed. After this, no information could be found by ISRO.

On September 9, ISRO tweeted that the moon's orbiter has detected Vikram's position and has also clicked a thermal image flying over it. However, ISRO did not release any images after this. NASA had talked about finding the position of Vikram. NASA's LRO was to carry out this task. LRO has been orbiting the moon since 2009. LRO had to reduce its height from 100 km to 90 km for Vikram's discovery. During this entire process, LRO was supposed to fly on the same path that the first information about Vikram was found. During this time, the orbiter (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter camera) had to click his image as well. The reason for its failure to execute is the same which India had already said. Actually, the part where Vikram is now is immersed in darkness. Because of this, LRO has failed in its work.

According to NASA, this area of the moon has started to darken for two weeks now. Due to this there is very little light in this area, due to which LRO has found it difficult to find Vikram. Has failed The expectation from NASA was also being made that it would take a picture and release before and after Vikram Touchdown area. ISRO was also supposed to study the data received from this orbiter, but ISRO is also disappointed in it. Let us tell you that ISRO had already said that if it was night on the moon, it would be difficult to find Vikram.
