Downdetector verified the Instagram outage on Twitter, writing, "User reports suggest Instagram is having troubles since 12:40 AM EDT." According to sources, the outage began about 9:45 a.m. and lasted until 12:45 p.m. While Instagram was unavailable, many users took to Twitter to share their comments and memes. One Twitter user even dragged Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is attempting to purchase Twitter, into the Instagram saga by posting a meme that stated, "Ye log jinse mai anjaan hun, mai inka bhagwan Kaise ban gaya."
