Monali Gupta

For some time, the parent company of WhatsApp, Facebook is preparing to advertise on this messaging app. Whatsapp founder left the company due to differing opinions on business model and privacy policy. But now the news is coming that for now, the plan to advertise on WhatsApp has been put on hold.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, the team that was working on advertising for WhatsApp in recent months has now been banned. Although it is not that ads will never be available in WhatsApp, in future the company can work on it. But for now, it is news that the company has retreated from advertising at the moment.

What is the model of WhatsApp, the company does not earn any direct income and that is why the company was preparing to advertise on it. Like Instagram, preparations were being made to add ads on WhatsApp through the status feature. In 2019, during a marketing summit, the company had made it clear that advertisements would be given in WhatsApp.

The WSJ report states that the code for the advertisement that was created by the advertising team of WhatsApp has been deleted from WhatsApp. The company has not yet released any official statement on this. Therefore, the reason is not clear why the company is doing this.

Significantly, Facebook had brought a policy to share WhatsApp's data with Facebook long ago. This led to contravention, but the company did not change this decision and now the user data of WhatsApp is shared with Facebook.
