While addressing the 'Pancharathna' rally in Kolar, JD(s) leader HD Kumaraswamy made a peculiar declaration ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections in 2023.

He proclaimed that his party would provide a sum of two lakhs to women who marry sons of farmers.

As per media reports, HD Kumaraswamy stated that he received a petition claiming that girls are hesitant to marry farmers' sons. In order to promote such marriages and uphold the dignity of farmers' children, his party would introduce a program that would offer two lakh rupees to girls who marry farmers' sons.

Meanwhile, the JD(S) is expected to release its second list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections soon, in an attempt to resolve the ongoing internal family discord over ticket allocation.

Kumaraswamy's assistance programs

Kumaraswamy has recently unveiled a series of financial assistance programs aimed at aiding farmers' families, exempting loans for women-led self-help groups, providing medical aid to those in need, and establishing free dialysis-equipped 30-bed hospitals in all panchayat centers.

The Karnataka Assembly election is set to take place on May 10, 2023, with the results to be declared on May 13. The tenure of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly is scheduled to conclude on May 24, 2023.

The JD(S) has declared its objective of winning a minimum of 123 seats in the 224-member Assembly.
